8th Grade Team A - Science Greg Colby D and F notices will be mailed home following the May 14 progress report printouts The week of May 19th, we will be starting our Health Unit. We have a new curriculum, adopted by the school board last spring, titled "The Great Body Shop". Lessons in the following topics are included in the unit: Becoming a life-long learner, Body systems (including reproductive systems), Fitness & nutrition, The cycle of life, Social & emotional health, Disease & illness prevention (including HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases), Safety, injury & violence prevention, Substance abuse prevention, and Consumer, community & environmental health.. Students interested in an intensive summer science experience should check out SPARK science for middle school program run by Brown University. Details are on their website at www.brown.edu/summer.
