More About Wilkes

Captain Charles Wilkes Elementary is located in a rural/suburban setting on the north end of Bainbridge Island, Washington. Bainbridge Island is located in Puget Sound a few miles west of Seattle. Our school is set on 10 acres, which include some wetlands.

Mission

The mission of Captain Charles Wilkes Elementary School is to facilitate the maximum educational growth of each student. This growth will be accomplished through the acquisition of:

knowledge

critical thinking skills
life-long learning skills
positive character traits
participation in the arts and physical education

To achieve this mission, the Wilkes staff, the students' families, and community must promote the academic growth and the physical, social, and emotional will-being of each student. Above all, the student's commitment to her/his education is essential to achieving this goal
