The Sakai PE department has set up a "Volunteer Lunchroom Clean-up Program" as a management/discipline tool.  If a student is experiencing a problem in class in any of the aspects of PACE (see grading), we send their name to the lunchroom team.  After the student eats their lunch, they report to the lunch clean-up staff, they put on a pair of lovely plastic gloves, and then help to pick up litter, wipe off tables and just do general clean-up duty.  It works as a terrific classroom management tool and all parents are free to borrow our idea for their own purposes at home!!  
(This is only used for minor infractions.  Any major discipline problems would result in a parent conference.)
