I believe that within our increasingly complex and interconnected world, each citizen is constantly challenged to make choices and decisions.  These decisions require a basic understanding of science, mathematics, and technology.  We must also recognize how our decisions affect us, our society, and the natural world.  An appreciation for the long term need to sustain our global environment is essential to the well-being of present and future generations.
