About Ordway - General Info

About Our School

Ordway Elementary School, one of three public elementary schools on Bainbridge Island, is centrally located on the island. We have a Kindergarden through grade four student body of about 400 students. There are 20 "self-contained" classrooms and we serve as the "host" school for the district's special education preschool and multiple-handicapped elementary program. Ordway is a friendly and open school that stresses excellence in learning and respect for self and diversity. We strive to provide "the personal touch" to each student and family. We encourage community participation and community partnerships. Our parents are very involved and active participants as volunteers, site council representatives and as members of the PTO. Students benefit from the services of a school counselor, specialists in art, music and P.E., and a librarian, in addition to their classroom teachers. The Ordway staff is a talented group of about 60 professionals with many interests and skills that they use to enrich the experiences of our community.
