We will Follow all rules as outlined in the Athletic Code. Scholarship comes first. Do your best always. Each individual has an obligation to his/her teammates to do the best he/she can in class as well as on the court. You must be in school at least half day in order to be able to participate in practice or match that day. The only exception will be a prearranged absence through the office. Metro League Individual Tournament begins Saturday, May 3 which is an SAT testing day and May 5-6 may have AP testing. (Check out 2008 AP Schedule) We will travel to and from away matches using a district vehicle or a bus. You are not allowed to drive yourself to matches. We will wear uniforms to matches Profanity has no place in our practice sessions or during match play. You may lose points, games, or be defaulted for repeat violations. Pre-match mental preparations is a necessity for early game success. Mental as well as physical training are key factors to an athlete's success. An athlete, who believes in himself and is willing to work hard and possesses determination and courage, has a head start in becoming a champion. Avoid foot problems and colds. Let one of the coaches know of any injuries or sickness immediately. You must come to scheduled practices. If you must miss or be late to practice, you MUST notify a coach beforehand. If there is no notification of a coach, you will be unexcused absent. This will result in you missing the next scheduled match. Practice will be Monday through Friday beginning as close to 3:00 pm as possible. Because of numbers, we may rotate practices for a while meaning one group will practice from 3-4 pm and one group from 4-5 pm. 'C' Squad will practice Tuesday & Thursday 5-6 pm. Varsity will also practice at Wing Point G & CC courts. We have 3 home matches this season using BAC and Winf Point (see schedule). During home matches, we want all players to support each other. You are required to stay until the final match is completed. We will carry enough players to fill playing spots for a match. The top 8 on the Spartan Ladder are first choice for varsity matches. Any players below #8 on the ladder that are non-seniors will play JV matches. We will set the lineup to win the Metro League title. The coach will set the lineup for dual matches, but team members will decide how they are entered in the Metro Individual Tournament after League. If players know early what their preference is, I will try to schedule you matches during the League season in order to support a seeding argument to the Metro Infividual Tournament. If each of us will contribute 100% toward our team, then we will all remember our season as a success. You only get to participate in high school athletics once, Make the most of it and enjoy it and your teammates. There is nothing in the world like being associated with a TEAM. It's great to be a WINNER! It's great to be a SPARTAN!!!!!! |
