STUDENTS

1.         Greg Mortenson, author of Three Cups of Tea, will be at BHS during first lunch on Wednesday.  Please come to the LGI to ask questions and listen to Mr. Mortenson speak of his challenges and successes.

2.         (Sorry, Nurse McKay…I forgot to put this in!)    Friday, Sept. 21st   Get ready for P.A.C. week next/this week!  P.A.C. stands for Pack Assorted Colors and it is a fun way to eat more fruits and veggies.  To get the broadest range of healthy nutrients into our bodies, ALL colors of foods are important.  Each day of P.A.C. week has been assigned a different color and the goal is to eat a fruit or vegetable based on the color of the day.  Monday was PURPLE DAY so you could of eaten something purple for a meal or snack (grape juice, raisins, blueberries).  Tuesday was WHITE Day.  Some good foods to eat are bananas, white peaches or even some cauliflower with ranch dressing!

Wednesday - September 26th

RED DAY - Today P.A.C. (Pack Assorted Colors) Week continues and the color for the day is red.  By eating a variety of colors of fruits and veggies you can get the broadest range of nutrients.  Some good foods to eat today are strawberries, red pepper slices, tomato wedges or a delicious red apple.  Tomorrow is YELLOW/ORANGE day.

Thursday - September 27th

YELLOW/ORANGE DAY! Today P.A.C. (Pack Assorted Colors) Week continues and the colors for the day are yellow or orange.  By eating a variety of colors of fruits and veggies you can get the broadest range of nutrients.  Some good foods to eat today for yellow-orange day are baby carrots, dried apricots or an orange.  Tomorrow we will finish up P.A.C. Week with Green Day.

Friday - September 28th

GREEN DAY - Today P.A.C. (Pack Assorted Colors) Week concludes and the color for the day is green.  Even when P.A.C. Week ends, remember to eat a variety of different colors of fruits and veggies to get the most nutrients for your body.  Some good foods to eat for green day are celery sticks, broccoli florets or a crisp green apple.  Thanks for participating in P.A.C. Week and keeping healthy! 

3.         RE:  SKATEBOARDS:  reminder, there is no skateboarding on campus during school, after school or on weekends.  The signs are posted; please no skateboarding.  Thanks.

4.         Attention Sophomores and Juniors:  The PSAT/PLAN exams will be held at BHS on Saturday, Oct. 20th @ 8:00 am.  Sign ups for these exams will begin October 1st and run through October 11th.  Sign up and pay with Sarah Spray in the main office.  Make check payable to BHS for $17 and indicate which exam you will take on your check.  The PSAT is designed for juniors and the PLAN is designed for sophomores.  If you are a sophomore who has completed Geometry, you can choose to take either the PLAN or the PSAT.  The week of October 8th, counselors will be visiting your English classes to discuss which exam is appropriate for you.  See your counselor if you have questions.

5.         SERVICE HOURS AVAILABLE – The BRIDGE Fitness Program is seeking volunteers to help out during this school year on Wednesdays from 1:15-2:00 (for those of you who have an open 6th period).  You would be working with Sue Steindorf and Karen Kilbane and helping their learning disabled students at Ordway play soccer, Aikido, gymnastics, weight lifting, dance, baseball, and track.  You do not need to be an expert in any of these sports, and you can volunteer once, twice, or all year.  If interested, please call Karen at 780-6707 or leave me an email at kkilbane@bainbridge.wednet.edu.  If you call, leave me a voice mail with your phone number. 

6.         ATTENTION ALL SENIORS & JUNIORS:  Upcoming college visits at BHS:  Friday, 9/28:  10:30am, Reed College; 1:00pm, Rocky Mountain College;  2:00pm, Columbia University (NYC).

 

MEETINGS

1.         There will be an informational meeting for the Speech and Debate Club after school TODAY, in a room still to be decided.  Maybe Dr. Swanson’s room…

2.         Earth Service Corps. will be meeting in Polinsky’s room (544)!  Thursdays after school!  Come and be pleasant and save our lovely EARTH!

3.         Amnesty meeting Thursday after school at 3:00 in Mr. Holloway’s room (306).  Everybody is welcome!

4.         Attention anyone who wants to join Math Club:  we are having our first math test today after school in room Commodore 007 (Ms. Namtvedt Best's room).  Drop on by -- new members encouraged!

5.         LANGUAGE CLUBS!  Meeting today at 3:00 for anyone interested in being a member of a Language Club.  Sra. Beck's room (343).  See you there!

SPORTS
1.         The O’Dea vs. Bainbridge game has been chosen as a candidate for this week’s Game of the Week voting on kirotv.com.  The game of the week is voted on weekly and the winning team is featured on KIRO 7 Eyewitness News Friday night at 11 p.m. and also featured with extended game highlights on kirotv.com.
